BHUTAN TOURIST VISA CHECKLIST
The Royal Bhutanese Embassy in New Delhi does not issue any visa or entry permit. Bhutanese visas are only issued by the Department of Immigration, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs in Bhutan.
With the exception of visitors from India, Bangladesh and Maldives, all other visitors to Bhutan require visas to be approved prior to the visit.
Nationals of India, Bangladesh and Maldives can obtain a visa at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 month validity. For Indian nationals, the entry permit will be issued upon producing Voters Identity Card (VIC) if they do not hold passports. Indian nationals who wish to drive their cars to Bhutan are required to obtain “Route Permit” from the Road Safety and Transport Authority office in Bhutan after obtaining the entry permit from the Department of Immigration.
NOTE: Indian nationals intending to visit Bhutan are required to carry any of the two valid 'Travel Documents' (a) Valid Indian Passport having validity of minimum 6 months; and/or (b) Voter Identity Card, issued by the Election Commission of India. No Visa is required to visit Bhutan.
